kdmarket, thank you for your contributions. The 51-05-09 Glory Golightly to me is an improvement over the previous version.

The Halls Of Ivy 1951-11-21 078 The Minister's Son (aka A Minister's Son Prefers Music to The Ministry) poss VOA.mp3
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Now we're getting into the Voice of America recordings. In the case of this episode, the VOA identification was cut out, but we strongly suspect it is a VOA recording. I checked with AFRS expert Thom Whetston [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] about VOA and AFRS. He told me that their radio production operations, including the re-purposing of network programming, were not related, and were independent operations. The VOA operation in that regard was smaller and not as long-lived, and its audience was different. While AFRTS focused on service personnel, VOA was to reach citizens of countries where it operated with an emphasis on news. Wikipedia has some details. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] VOA has bounced around to different agencies over the years. Thom W does not have many details about the VOA operation at the time of the Halls of Ivy programs, and if anyone does it would be greatly appreciated to add that information here.

As a kid I remember seeing the VOA antenna array outside Cincinnati passing by on Interstate 75.  The thing was huge. I gather the 625 acre site is now a park.

thank you for sharing kdmarket. When I played yours, the Halls Of Ivy song at the close had the full phrasing of "vesper bell' while the other one ended during the word "bell." Both versions have the full radio play. I'm glad you're checking your versions of this kdmarket.

Here is one that is a higher encode and slightly more audible but it too cuts off before "vesper bell" is fully articulated by the singers.
