Just a bit of fluff really, but admirers of Matt Dillon might grin a bit if you have access to the Twilight Zone Radio program Mr. Garrity And The Graves Can't post it here but if you can search it out, Give it a listen.

The Gunsmoke Radio episode "Meshougah" written by Antony Ellis,
which aired 02/21/1953 was later adapted by Ellis for television, but not
for the television version of the series.

Ellis later used plot of "Meshougah" for an episode of the television series
Zane Grey Theatre, "Village of Fear" which aired on March 1, 1957.

The plot line for both the original and the adaptation were quite similar:
an entire town is terrorized by a gang of killers led by a crazy man.
(Meshougah is a variation of the Hebrew word which means "Crazy.")

"Village of Fear" was aired as part of Season One (Episode 21) of
Zane Grey Theatre, a very good television Western anthology series
which aired from 1956-1961.  Seasons One thru Three are available on DVD.

Zane Grey Theatre is currently airing on over-the-air rerun channel
GRIT and also shows up on various Cable and Satellite channels.
