Army Bandstand (FLAC)

Post by airlanes on 9/27/2018, 12:08 pm

Army Bandstand was an Army recruiting series that ran from 1958-1961.  Each episode was approximately fifteen minutes in length and featured popular music of the era likely to catch the ear of potential recruits.  Offered here are six FLAC files derived from original vinyl recordings in my collection.  Only one of the six, Program 129 is listed by OTTER as being in circulation.

Here's episode 145 with guest Archie Bleyer.
I've posted the mp3 before on a blog so you might have it, but here's the flac.
It's recorded from a reel that was originally recorded, at a guess, sometime in the 60's.

Here is another episode of Army Bandstand I recently stumbled across.  This one is in mp3 not FLAC and features George Shearing: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Thanks.

Do you know why the forum adds that adf.ly thing to the start of my link but not yours.  When I click it it redirects to activetect.net and my browser blocks whatever is on that page. Google says that site is a "browser hijacker".  Pretty sure I haven't got a virus as I can post links on other sites without it being added, it's only happening with this forum.

I'm assuming that your Mediafire is either a free account or your allotted bandwidth has been used up for the time being.  I've run into that annoying adf.ly in the past.  Seems to be some kind of advertising that pops up with such Mediafire accounts.  The pcloud account I'm using is a premium account so there should not be any such popups.
