Re: Sharing Shows from my collection
Thanks Geezer for the additional episodes to The General Store. I am rather liking this show very much. This one is like Gildersleeve for me. I get a sense of the time period involved. Many shows don't convey that sense of time period back to me.

This one should be dated June 26, 1956. In the program announcement before the show begins, the announcer mentions that it's summertime.

I haven't been getting my notifications for this page so I've been catching up. Thanks, Geezer, for more General Store, which seems to have made a big hit around here! And, of course, thanks to Tom and his sharing spirit.

Re: Sharing Shows from my collection
Thanks again to Toebig, Jazzman and Geezer for posting all these. I should also mention that if you like 1930s shows, check out Geezer's upgrades of Ann of the Airlines in that topic. Wonderful stuff.
I'm working my way through Scarlett Queen right now. It's one I've never heard before and I can see why people enjoy it. The continuity of stories makes it interesting though it feels somewhat over the top the way Elliot Lewis delivers it. It's probably just the writing style. It also took me a little bit to figure out that the writers of this show were the same ones who did Sam Spade, which is why the openings all sounded so familiar to me.

Lasombra, what happened to the Radiogram page at Sperdvac? I was reading them and waiting for the new issue that was supposed to come out (per Stewart I believe) and the page vanished? I guess I made a big mistake not downloading them all in one shot.
Tom-In-Ohio, the website is changing hands. I assume the Radiograms will be reposted next month.

Re: Sharing Shows from my collection
I'm a little late. My old body is hurting from stacking two cords of firewood yesterday. I have two more cords to stack tomorrow. Trivia, for those of you that don't know, A cord of wood is a stack 8 feet long, four feet high and four feet wide. That's a lot of bending over and lifting. I see my cardiologist today and finish stacking tomorrow, LOL.

That stacking is going to keep you young. Keep the work up and rest more between rounds. Age is just a number. You say the word and Jeff and Space will be at your house tomorrow to chop wood with you.

Thanks all for your well wishes. I haven't seen any worms in the wood pile lasombra, but I have run across a rattler or two. I feel you're right Seamus, that work is what keeps me going at my age. I do rest every 15-20 minutes. My rest periods can be longer than my work periods if I nod of in the warmth of the day LOL.

Geezer, do you have any information on General Store - where was it done, who are the actors, etc? Is it possible that it could be a modern production skillfully produced to sound like the 1930s? I had never seen it listed anywhere until I saw it in toebig's collection and asked him to post one.

I'm in pretty much the same boat. Here's what Dave Goldin has to say
38803. The General Store. Program #1,2,3,4. Broadcasters Program Syndicate/Bruce Eells and Associates syndication. A rural store with three old geezers running things. One more geezer than Lum and Abner! . 13:50. Audio condition: Excellent. Apparently complete.
Three GEEZERS???? Old or otherwise I can't imagine anything more horrible

Oh, by the way, I checked and saw that Bruce Eells and Associates syndication are the same folks that brought us "Police Headquarters" (1932), Frontier Fighters(1938), and Family Doctor (1932)

Thanks Geezer. Now it would be great if any researchers here could find a newspaper listing for it. I wonder if it was a daytime or nighttime show. Also it's curious that no music is ever involved. I wonder if it was broadcast as a regular part of another show. Ah, a thousand questions ...
