High light the title at the top of the Degoo page, right click and select "copy" in the pop up window
While hovering over the audio player at the right of the screen, right click and select "save as". Paste the title in the location window and hit enter.
This has worked for the last 8 of Greybelts posts.
Can't thank you enough Greybelt. No one puts together a series better. Background additions are great.

Re: Suspense Upgrades
Today's episode is a Jonathan Bundy adaptation of a Jack Johnstone story
Johnstone edited and truncated the 5-part YTJD from early September 1956 into this episode. So what is it? 50 minutes of YTJD 5-part drama down to 22 minutes of Suspense? First thing you do is take out all that expense account stuff...
The spelling of the title has always been an issue, with a lot of collections having
"Kamoshek" rather than the correct
"Kamashek" which is in the newspaper clippings.
We don't have a Suspense script cover, but the YTJD covers have "Kamashek."
Glad to see the CBS publicity department agreed with Johnstone. Small miracle.
Ian Martin is in this episode, one of the small number of actors who were in the inaugural season of the series (August 1942's Cave of Ali Baba) and in its final season.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Martin was a regular at the Newark radio conventions. He was one of those "life of the party" types with grand and often bawdy jokes that went up to the line and didn't cross it... except for maybe a toe length.

Elaine Rost had a long radio career, best known for The Brighter Day of which few recordings are available. Many collectors did not know her name and always assumed it was "Ross" in their logs and show descriptions.

Re: Suspense Upgrades
Will keep you posted as to other ideas.A psychodrama, with a hint of Norman Bates. Â Seems to me his diary notes represent his subconscious coming to terms with his darker impulses. Â And it appears to be a deliberate edit from the first speech, inserted later, as if he is trying to re-justify his murderous feelings to cover up any guilt. I don’t know whether he kills both the housekeeper and the lady called Janet...it’s one of those David Lynch-style stories that is left up to each listener to interpret.
But I sure would love to know if a script exists. I wonder if Zirato or Paul Roberts or Hendrickson left collections to universities. Backus does a fine reading, especially when we are all so used to his comedy persona.
They’re my thoughts. You might all have different readings, but it’s sure not the regular linear narrative story on this series. I’d be interested to know if Ms Voland was a published author.
Today's recording is a completist's one -- and it's a low encode recording. My how far we've come in eliminating the low encode recordings of the early days of digital OTR when dial-up ruled the day and small files were the way OTRdom coped... This just has a bit more piano at the open.

Forgot to add a note re Pages from a Diary...
An AFRTS disc for the episode, #1020, came up on eBay a few months ago. The price seemed very high considering the episode and its era, so it was not pursued. Please keep an eye out for the disc or a recording. Remember, it is always possible that it could be on an old cassette or a reel, or even an old digital set of the series. As Yogi Berra said, "Sometimes you can see a lot just by looking."
This episode is a re-used script from the short-lived series Creeps by Night 1944-04-23 "Strange Burial of Alexander Jordan"
The AFRTS version of this episode, #913, is known to exist. If you see it, please let me know.

Re: Suspense Upgrades
But first -- so glad the Degoo links are working again. The only communication I had from them was that it had been escalated to the developers but I never got word that they had fixed it! Thanks for letting me know. I always worry that what works on my computer and in my account may not be what others are experiencing.
The Degoo link for Golden Years has been corrected in the post. Here it is for your convenience so you don't have to scroll back...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Now back to our IMPORTANT POST...
A couple of years ago I received a note from a Cobaltian who had remembered seeing a listing in an early 2000s catalog that was a long missing repeat performance of Wet Saturday, except this was the one with Boris Karloff!
The catalog was from SciFiGuy, Gordon Payton, who was a noted collector of science fiction broadcasts, especially those of the BBC. The latter were especially hard to find for US collectors. Gordon was the co-author of the CBSRMT book with Martin Grams and published by McFarland 17 years ago. Here is the Amazon link [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Now some background that I have been able to piece together...
Because of the cheap CDs packed with low encode mp3s, Gordon's sideline business of selling cassettes was no longer worth pursuing and he decided to concentrate on his other interests and his preparation for retirement. He packed up his cassette masters and they sat in storage for a few years. He finally sold them a year or so ago. A long-retired fan of sci-fi purchased the cassettes for that main interest, but he also had an OTR collection. It is important to note that this was an OTR fan, not a hard core completist/collector/researcher. He devoutly loves listening and the savors the history of the era. When he got the cassettes, he gathered up the OTR ones and reviewed them. He checked around with collectors and fans and asked if they wanted the cassettes. He had no takers. No surprise, they were cassettes, after all and everyone had moved on to the digital formats we enjoy so much.
When he sorted through the Suspense tapes, he compared the titles with his collection, identified duplicate titles he already had, and disposed of them because of space issues. So the Wet Saturday cassette master with Boris Karloff went into the trash. Wet Saturday was performed three other times in the series. It is likely that the cassette label had no mention of it being the Karloff episode. It's easy to understand how this all happened.
These were all innocent decisions based on what was important to the individuals involved. It's a hobby, and everyone has their preferences for enjoyment and for collecting... even those collectors who were not interested in taking the Suspense cassettes off his hands. There was nothing wrong with what they did and we should not begrudge anyone for their decisions in this regard.
Now it's up to us die-hard completists to become OTR gumshoes and track it down... Gordon is successfully and happily retired and has no interest in OTR and has no recordings, no customer records, and therefore no leads for this pursuit. As true gumshoes, we have to pound OTRdom's streets for clues. Gordon often had a dealers table at FOTR conventions in Newark. It is likely that he sold a few of these recordings at the convention. He probably had dealer tables at other nostalgia and scifi conventions. He had a good mail order business at one time and probably sold copies that way. There may be a Karloff collector who has it (the Karloff fan web sites don't have it... but that doesn't mean we don't keep looking there!). There were likely collectors at his dealer tables who saw "Wet Saturday"... I already have one of those... but sometimes the Karloff collectors would be drawn toward his appearance and not be interested in any of the other performances.
The problem here is the sequence of events... the recording was found late in the life of Gordon's business... at a time his customers were getting recordings from the new mp3 dealers that emerged on the scene... so awareness of the program and his catalog was not cultivated the was it would have been just a few years before, so a buzz around its availability could not get started.
As you know, I scour collections constantly, looking for recordings of missing episodes, especially recordings that might be misdated. The 1947 recording that appears in most collections is usually a mislabeled December 1943 broadcast with Charles Laughton. I've seen the network and the AFRS recording of the 1943 broadcast in collections as the 1947 recording. The file name often includes Karloff's name despite it being the Laughton broadcast.
Please... keep an eye out for this recording. If you know inactive collectors who might have collected and traded cassettes or bought from Gordon (almost 20 years ago!) please search it out. I was still on OTR hiatus at this time and had not come back to the hobby. So I have no contacts from this era or this style of collecting.
It is frustrating to know that a missing recording exists... but this is not the only one. I know that there is a dictation recording of the 1947-07-17 Beyond Good and Evil with Vincent Price in a dictation technology that may not be easily playable even if we could obtain it.
Perhaps with some luck the recording may surface. There may be someone who has it who does not know that it may be as special as it is.
Your help and encouragement is always greatly appreciated... I hope we can all get lucky in this regard.

I have checked thru my versions of Wet Saturday, both on cassette and on mp3, and I'm sorry to say that I do not have the Boris Karloff version.
I also checked the 1947-07-17 Beyond Good and Evil with Vincent Price and it's also one I don't have.
We'll keep on trying.

From what I understood, there were two people involved--the gentlemen with the server and the shows and the person who was mainly responsible for the logs and show information (Digital Deli Too). Perhaps trying to contact the owner of DD2 is the way to go.
