A comment on an OTRR site that had a recording of the human voice predating the Edison Phonograph prompted me to look a bit deeper.

I found the following on You Tube. An absolutely fascinating video. I'm not much of a tech person but my attention was held for the full 55 minutes or so. I have a vague recollection of a Cobalt Club reference to this early recording back in the day but this history was made by one of the people responsible for recovering it.

Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville was the first person to record his voice and send it into the future.  David Giovannoni recounts how First Sounds discovered and played back these recordings 150 years later
