Not a request but I don't know where else to post this. Found this episode of The Whistler this morning at Archive...it's a new one for me: Whistler 1953-08-16 The Curtain [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Looking for a Jack Benny I'm missing

Post by kschriever on 6/7/2018, 10:51 am

Hey folks... given how little I've contributed of late I'm a bit embarrassed to be asking for stuff... but somehow I have come up short on a Jack Benny show and given how freely available this material is I'm a little shocked.

The 1951-03-11 broadcast is apparently a re-broadcast of the 1949-03-20 show recording and was done as a response to most of the cast being down with flu... but should be easily distinguishable as Don Wilson provided NEW announcements at the open and close of the show. Below are the details as provided on the very useful "Jack Benny in the 1940s" website (and seconded in Laura Leff's now somewhat dated books). Would much appreciate a copy... particularly, of course, in relatively high quality, but if 24kb is all anyone's got I'll take it with gratitude!

Kurt

============================

NOTE: The script notes this as a "revised" rebroadcast, mainly due to Don Wilson's newly done introduction and closing remarks:

DON's INTRO: "Ladies and gentlemen, as you know all over the country people have been ill with the flu and we are no exception. It has hit {here "our show" is crossed out in the script} Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone so hard we have been forced to postpone our scheduled program. However, not to disappoint you listeners we will bring you a transcribed recreation of one of your all time favorite Jack Benny programs. And now on with the Jack Benny Show"

DON'S OUTRO: "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate someone cute, someone sweet and someone all America loves on their 39th birthday. No no folks, it's not Jack Benny. Tomorrow, march 12, marks the 39th birthday of the Girl Scouts of America...congratulations, girls"

Yes, this is a copyright issue, and we can't post those shows here. That said, Buck has posted this to many sites, so no fault no harm. If anyone wants to PM the request and not post here, that is perfectly legitimate.

Now what I really need is the first season of The Railroad Hour in HQ.  I have the last half of the run, from the 1951-1952 season onward in HQ that I can share if anyone wants.
