You know, I used to be able to perform all kinds of tasks concurrently and now look at me. I can't even do one task sequentially!! Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!

And then, without fanfare, the show ended on Oct 8, 1944 as confirmed by this.

Years went by, but on July 8, 1950 it came back as a summer replacement for Judy Canova. More on that tomorrow.

Here's another one I can't identify.It's similar to Goldin's show:

65503. The Chamber Music Society Of Lower Basin Street. NBC net origination, AFRS rebroadcast. The first tune is, "The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea." Phil Baker and Milton Cross play, "Take It Or Leave It" for $64 ("Take It Or Lose It"). The program has a comedy/variety format instead of traditional jazz. Phil also plays the accordion. Paul Lavalle and His Orchestra, Milton Cross (announcer), Howard Duff (AFRS announcer), Dick Todd (vocal), Phil Baker. 30:34. Audio condition: Good. Complete.

On my copy the opening song is "Sometimes I'm Happy". Next song is "Singing in the Rain" sung by Dick Todd.

As mentioned yesterday, almost six years went by, and then right out of the blue (no pun intended), NBC resurrected the series for a 14 week run as a summer replacement for the Judy Canova Show.
It was a surprise to hear that the original format of Barrelhouse, Boogie and the Blues was back, with Jane Pickens as a regular singer / piano player and the original chairman Gene Hamilton firmly in the chair with all of his wit and banter. Shame it only lasted 14 weeks but here is the first episode.

And today, here is show #4 from this run. This one and yesterday's are the only shows I have from this run which concluded on Sep 30, 1950. Another very brief run took place in 1952, sponsored by the Army Reserve. More on that tomorrow.

I'm a big fan of Cab Calloway so I love this episode from 9-3-44. Goldin also has the same date so I'll assume it's correct until you say otherwise.

Not much detail in the papers but the show comes from the Café Society and is billed as 'a preview for the grand opening tomorrow night'. The date of the opening was Oct 8, 1940 as verified in multiple NY papers.

On April 12, 1952 and sponsored by the Army Reserve, NBC again brought back the show. Almost the same format as previously but now with Orson Bean replacing Gene Hamilton as chairman.

I don't have the first episode but I do have the second.

CDM, I may have the 1952-04-12 show. I actually have four with that date, different content, all with slightly different lengths and recorded at 32, 64, and 128.
This one is my best guess: Dinah Shore announces Basin Street is back, guest is Fred Allen and the first song is High Society. Commentator is Orson Bean. Is that it?

Here's the 4-12-52 show with Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa:
https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/pi118Mqi5V

Of the others with that date one was the same but of lower quality and the other two were copies of a show with Arthur Treacher as commentator. I also have that same Treacher show dated as an audition of 3-17-50 with Robert Merrill.

Thank you lasombra.

Then on July 19, the series ended and the program faded into the sunset with barely a whimper.

Before you go, have you found any info on the Arthur Treacher audition? I really like his version. Also, I hope you can someday find those missing Dec 1941-Jan 1942 shows with Ward Byron. Goldin lists them.
