This day in Suspense history...
October 28
1954 The Shelter
GOOD NEWS! I was transferring some reels yesterday, and one of the reels had no contents sheet. It turned out to be 13 Suspense from 1960, and I got five good files out of it. We have a few more days of upgrades left... and perhaps more will appear on some other reels.
This is another "missing" AFRS recording that improves upon what has been circulating as a network recording.

Don't think it's the link. Error message displayed indicates too many downloads. First time I've seen this. The same thing occurs for the one or two priop episodes as well. Here's the message:
"Access to 'Suspense_1960-05-08_Legend_Of_Robbie (Utica Club ad at open WROW) UPGRADE-2A.mp3' was limited due to high download traffic."

Re: Suspense Upgrades
The limits on downloads on my pCloud accounts are being exceeded. Bad: ugh! have to find an alternative.
Good: lots of interest in Suspense (in improved sound!)
These are posted at hubiC -- I know, we tried that before, but it seems like they've upgraded things. They are not taking new free accounts, but mine is still active -- and will stay that way.
Here are links for the last few shows in case there are problems with pCloud...

Re: Suspense Upgrades
This day in Suspense history...
November 1
1945 The Dunwich Horror
1955 The Mountain
1958 The Dealings of Mr Markham
1959 Re-Entry
Like End Game, this episode has been circulating with a patched-on opening. That "fix" has now been removed. There are two links here in case the pCloud link does not work because of the monthly download quota. Since it's a new month, that should be re-set automatically, and it should work.

Re: Suspense Upgrades
This day in Suspense history...
November 2
1943 Statement of Employee Henry Wilson
1944 The Singing Walls
1950 The Victoria Cross
1953 Ordeal in Donner Pass
Today's program was written by William N. Robson. I don't know if it's truly original as it could have been a plotline of an Operation: Underground episode or some other series. Any time the story involves Europe at that time it could be from O:U or Modern Adventures of Casanova... or it could be original just for Suspense.
The year 1960 was an in-between year for Robson. His leadership role on Suspense ended in 1959 when the show moved back to New York. We'll never know if this script or plotline is something Robson prepared and had expected to produce himself had the series remained in Hollywood. He often re-shaped full scripts or scenarios or scenes from his prior work into new productions. In 1961, Robson joined Voice of America and won four Peabody awards for his work there over the next 15 or so years. Even after Suspense went to New York again, and he was working for VOA, Robson still submitted scripts to the series, resulting in some of the better broadcasts of that period.

GOOD NEWS! Today's post was supposed to be the last for a while. But we just received some more reel transfers from an older collection. Some of the recordings are really nice upgrades of episodes that have been in deficient sound quality. Others add to our east/west pairs. It's 12 recordings, and they'll start tomorrow. Join us, won't you?
