A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
I'm working on a set of A Day in the Life of Dennis Day for the OTRR. Here is a link to what I consider some very nice sounding episodes (.mp3, not .wav or .flac). These are not available on the OTRR library. Would be glad to hear any episodes you may want to share.

Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
Thanks ozradio, these sound great. Thanks for sharing. I don't have any Dennis Day shows or I'd give them to you. Mp3 shows at high bit rate (128 or above) sound just as good as flac or wav if they are from a good source.

Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
This is the working set for the OTRR's collection of A Day in the Life of Dennis Day. The series is a bit of a mess and it doesn't seem that there's been any serious attempt over the years to catalog what is circulating. If I remember right, Martin Grams has confirmed the scripts did not have titles which only contributes to the various titles by which you'll see the same shows labeled. Added to that, so many of the stories are similar when boiled down to a few-word title. So far this is what we've been able to come up with. Sound quality varies, with just a few nice upgrades from Ted Davenport and Randy Riddle. We're hoping we might be able to see if the community has any episodes not represented here or in better sound. We're focusing only on Day's sitcom, not appearances with Benny, his later quarter-hour show, musical numbers, etc. Enjoy! Ryan

OK, this is one lousy upgrade. Dennis Day 1946-11-14 Dennis Writes A Radio Script
The working file is at 40kbps a lot of clicks and pops and several skips that cut some of the dialog. This "upgrade" is 32 kbps has clicks & pops too but fewer and less invasive. It also has a couple of skips but not as many, so the dialog is mostly intact.

Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
You might not call it an upgrade, but............
Dennis Day 1948-09-11 Dennis Plays A French Count has a lot of issues. Mostly loud, nasty pops due to disk damage. Making it worse is that these gouges chipped out lots of dialog. I took a whack at some file fiddling.
I was able to remove most of the worst "pops" as well as duplicated bits of dialog and other nasty bits. Not much I could do about missing dialog. I will confess to a small cheat by copying a word used later in the show and inserting it in another spot. It was a small joke but it was the first use that made the second one funny.
Anyway I think it sounds better and will have to do until somebody finds a clean copy

Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
Got them both, Geezer! This show has been sadly neglected in the hobby so we're having to make do with some pretty poor quality at times.
Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
Are there circulating episodes of Dennis Day's 1949 mini-series An Unsafe Day in the Life of Dennis Day? It was a micro-spinoff of his A Day in the Life of Dennis Day program.

All six episodes are currently in the OTRR library.

Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
Yes, someone on the Facebook page just pointed that out! I was not looking under the Dennis Day link. Thanks, I'll add those to our set. It's your research that tuned me into this little series.

Re: A Day in the Life of Dennis Day
My "A Day in the Life of Dennis Day" radio log/book is done. Only took 5 years to finally finish, and hopefully there will be new editions as I continue some other Dennis Day research. I also shared this on the OTRR email list and Facebook page:
A Day in the Life of Dennis Day: A Radio Log documents Dennis Day’s popular radio program (1946-1951). This complete log is meant to be a resource for fans and researchers of classic radio. Drawing from circulating recordings, radio scripts, and newspaper and magazine research, this log includes:
Date, Number, and Title: The date of broadcast, episode number (which started over each season), and a descriptive title for each episode (the scripts did not title episodes).
First Line: The first line (sentence or two) that starts the body of each episode to help fans and collectors to identify recordings.
Summary: A summary of the plot of each episode, including detailed summaries of episodes for which no recordings are circulating.
Cast: The cast, in the order listed on the scripts.
Songs: The songs Dennis sings in each episode are listed in order.
Notes: For many episodes, some notes, which include additional research, observations, etc. are included.
You can view and download a pdf copy at the link below:

If you would like a printed copy for your OTR library, you can get a copy from Amazon:
