Quiet, Please!
I have the Radiola LP release of The Thing on the Fourble Board that I will be posting as a FLAC as soon as I can (along with the Escape version of Three Skeleton Key and the Peter Lorre performance of The Cask of Amontillado that are both on the same record.) This is probably the best quality version available, short of the master that Radiola used or a lower generation tape of the same lineage that the Radiola master came from (not sure as to the origin of that particular one.) My copy has a bit of wear of its own, but by OTR standards it's practically pristine
As far as I've discerned, most or all of the other available episodes are taken from transfers that Don Aston of AVPRO had requested in the 70s from the transcriptions before they went to Paley, and whoever at the university library did them was supposedly lazy and made no attempt to remove dust or dirt before doing so. Are his transfers still the best sources available? (At least the best quality untouched ones, that is.) Not sure, though, how to obtain copies of them since he seems to have ceased trading and his web site is gone (hope he's still doing ok!)
It looks like Radio Archives has MP3s available for sale that have been declicked and noise reduced. Anyone know if these are the best commercial versions available, or if the Radio Spirits versions or others are superior?

From what I have been told the masters are missing from the Paley and no one seems to know where they are

Re: Quiet, Please!
I don't think a proper posting for Quiet Please can be complete without examining the parallels to an episode from another series, namely Dark Fantasy.
The the authors are different (Wyllis Cooper and George Marion Hamaker [aka Scott Bishop] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but the style, pace, music, and feel are certainly very similar and its always been my belief that the episode "I AM YOUR BROTHER" had a distinct impact on the later creation of the Quiet Please series [Both Authors are dead and I doubt any written correspondence exists that would establish this relationship]. None the less, I offer for your consideration:
DARK FANTASY - 06-05-42 29 I Am Your Brother

Before I begin, here is a good contemporary overview article written by John Crosby that I don't believe has been posted:

Thank you my friend, in advance for sharing the series Quiet Please. It's a great show and one that I don't have good sounding copies of.
Enjoy your trip,

YES!!!! Dark Fantasy, Quiet Please, Mysterious Traveler, Suspense, Dimension X and other horror/sci-fi anthology shows totally feed my OTR addiction. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Tom

Re: Quiet, Please!
There's a reason that I've had a series of running gags, based on The Thing on the Fourble Board over the past 20 years here at The Cobalt Club. This series and most everything Tom mentioned are on my favorites list. And it's high time I revisited them.
Re: Quiet, Please!
There was an Audition* for the series (as there is with almost all series), but I'm not sure that I have it, since I don't know that I have HOW ARE YOU PAL? 05-22-47 with any kind of advertising for the series that would indicate that it is the Audition.
So we begin with episode 1: NOTHING BEHIND THE DOOR

Re: Quiet, Please!
Hi Art,
Thanks for posting this. If my cassette copy turns out to be a dud, I'll link to this.
take care,
Jim
PS: I was using Jerrys log when I looked at the Paley Center. Yes, you guessed it. I am putting this set together on the fly each day from my unorganized mess (where I'm not quite certain what I have).

Re: Quiet, Please!
Thanks a lot for these....I like the sound of the cassette source and appreciate the FLACs (obviously taking in account that the recordings themselves are pretty damaged) .... its such a great and unique show...

Re: Quiet, Please!
I was hoping for a little more from the cassettes. The story is in there, but they definitely have their issues. I think the material from Reel will be a bit better.
Episode 5: Cornelia
Your additional players:
Anne Seymour
Peggy Stanley
Walter Black
The Story:
I don't know whether to classify this as a bad plan, a justification for divorce, or wasted lives. Maybe just "Die Cornelia".
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The Recording (CASSETTE): Quiet Please - Cornelia 07-20-47

A much more listenable version:
