Re: Fitch Bandwagon
According to my count, Phil Harris appeared at least 9 times on the Bandwagon during the Big Band phase of the show, before he and Alice Faye became regulars in 1946. I still haven't nailed down some of the shows so the count could eventually be more than 9.

I don't have a script for this last one for today, so I took a stab at the name of the opening number. Hope it's not too far off base.

Re: Fitch Bandwagon
One final research thing before I leave the thread today.
Will you please take a look at this clipping from the Jan 4, 1942 Charlie Spivak appearance. It's not easy to read and I'm having the darndest time identifying the title of the number. Any thoughts?

Re: Fitch Bandwagon
Thanks for the shows Completedayman!
You were exactly right it is: "Ami Ami Oni Oni Isle". A search engine check verified that. Also, I agree that the song on the Charlie Spivak script is "Papa Niccolini". It was a popular song during this time. Glenn Miller at least made his recording of the song on October 20, 1941.

Re: Fitch Bandwagon
On Nov 1, 1942 AFRS (Special Services Division) started picking up the shows and shipping them out to the forces. For about the first 10 months or so they maintained the 30 min format, minus the Fitch connection of course, calling it The Bandwagon.

By the way, I forgot to mention before, if you like the music here then come on over to the Whale Room where it's wild and wooly. Share a thought or two, mostly fabricated of course, enjoy the posts and the music and don't be afraid to let your hair down (if you have any to let down that is). You only live once!!

No problem at all Harlow. I really do appreciate the effort, especially with this program. It's really very hard to find new programs or upgraded ones.

Re: Fitch Bandwagon
This next one is very interesting in that it is a collection of four tunes featuring Charlie Spivak, with no open or close, no commercials and not much dialog. I'm guessing that the four tunes came from both sides of two 78s. My research so far shows that Charlie appeared 3 times on the Bandwagon, 42-01-04, 43-03-28 and 44-02-13. The last date can be ruled out since Tom Reddy would have been the host. It's also not the first date since we have that show. Therefore by process of deduction, until we have proof to the contrary, I'm including it here.

Singer Gene Williams was only 17-years-old at the time.
