Info from Goldin and the show itself on this one. Date is as the file came.

I believe this is #49 Bob Hope. It's not the greatest sound but perhaps better than nothing. You might want to wait to download it until it's confirmed to be #49.

Lasombra, that appears to be a correct ID as far as I can tell. It matches Goldin's very brief description, and Mackenzie has even less, confirming some cast members (Lamour, Blanc, Colonna, Sherman) but not providing either orchestra or first song, on both of which counts this is a fit. Thanks very much for digging this up!

Here's #120 as we draw toward a close in a few days hence. I suspect it may be a full repeat or an assembled show containing elements of missing #68... It's Kay Kyser-hosted and features Lynn Bari, who was not often on this show but whom Mackenzie has as appearing with Kyser on #68 with little additional detail.

Thanks Lasombra, as Kurt says, that's definitely a fill.

My contribution this morning is #127, which is another assembled show, featuring the sketches from #87 plus songs from Ginny Simms replacing those from Connie Haines in the original.

I have this show in my collection labeled as #68. After I read the above description of #120 I compared the two. The first half of my #68 is the same as #120 but the second half is different. Might my copy actually be the missing #68? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Gosh Lasombra, this one is a poser. I've spot listened to both and they both deal with the Miss Tobacco 1944 topic and both feature Ish's 'play'.

The big difference is Georgia Carroll sings a number in #120 and not in #68. There are obvious places where edits took place in BOTH shows, either by AFRS engineers or a 'collector' and other music is different places in the two shows. I do believe the file you posted is the #68 show but I can't be 100% sure. In the #120 show Georgia, being Kay's wife, fits in with being on the show but isn't introduced. That sounds like an AFRS assembled rerun. On the other hand other musical numbers are played without introduction in both shows.

I'm going to need to compare side by side every sentence to see what other differences there may be. For now I believe you have found another fill for which I thank you very much.

Wow... I'm going to let CDM run with the research on the 68/120 question at present, but what I'm reading here so far sure sounds like standard AFRS modus operandi, so I'll be inclined to believe your recording is indeed #68 unless we find reasons otherwise, Lasombra. Thank you again for all the trouble you're taking to dig through your archives!

This one should have a little less controversy attached... it pairs the unlikely duo of Monte Woolley and Bill Bendix and sprinkles in a welcome bit of Ginny Simms:

I'm still needing time to thoroughly go through 68/120. Unless you hear back from me on this, assume the show lasombra posted is the real #68.

The 128 show Kurt posted above is actually the #90 show sketches, with Connie Haines music replaced by Ginny Simms.

My show this morning is the #80 with Ginny Simms music again replacing Connie Haines. Hence my comment about Georgia Gibbs above.

You did lasombra. I'm getting old and things are starting to fall off in addition to the memory fading. (Just ask kschriever about me). I must have downloaded your file to my set and then when I went back to double check our shared set it wasn't there, so I assumed I had missed it initially. Sorry about that. I'll delete my post above.

This next one is a straight repeat of #92, but it is verified and I have a copy of the label.

It's been a good run, but it looks like it's left to me to close out this posting... and as often happens with AFRS series, with a little bit of a thud in that this is a confirmed repeat of #93 (we again have the disc label on this one).  Could be worse, though... as the reprise features Danny Kaye and Mel Torme:

Thanks to my posting buddy CDM for his energy, hard work and good humor!  Also special gratitude to Lasombra for the excitement provided by some unexpected fills... feel free to find some more between the couch cushions or wherever these have been lurking!  Finally, thanks to everyone who took an interest.  I look forward to CDM and me (or anyone else at all) reopening this thread down the road with some of the many programs still undiscovered.
