Don't close the door yet, kschriever. I think this may be a new one? #132 William Bendix: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(In my best Jim Backus voice) (Which bears a terrific resemblance to my worst Jim Backus voice)

Ah, Lasombra, you've done it again! The only doc on this one that I know of is Goldin, and although he seems to foul up his own description of the opening joke a little it's hard to conceive this could be anything BUT 132. It appears to be another assembled show, however... I haven't done a full comparison but the content of the opening is identical to #79, until the first song, where Jimmie Grier's "Together" is replaced by Lina Romay's "South of the Border".

In case I ever inadvertently close that door again, here's your own personal copy of the key. Barge in any time! :-)

Thanks lasombra. I calculate we now have 94 out of a possible 136 programs. For the mathematically challenged, that's 69% of the total, which is not too shabby at all.

Statistically, these posts have averaged 24 downloads each. Hmmm.

For those of you keeping score of MCs, in the shows we have, Jack Carson appeared the most with 22, followed by Kay Kyser with 20, Bing with 19 and Bob Hope with 14.

Do you know if any of the repeat shows were ever identical? I have a show labeled #133 Bing Crosby which seems to be the same as #94.

Yes, at least three we posted are repeats - 117, 135 and 136. We have labels for the last two so those are genuine. The only way of being 100% sure is to have the disc (label) for the show.

I would guess that the show you have is 99% sure to be 132. David Goldin appears to have it, and I quote:
"103386. G.I. Journal. February 1946. Program #133. AFRS origination. The first tune is, "Aren't You Glad You're You." The date is approximate. Bing Crosby (host), Mel Blanc, Chili Williams, Andy Devine, Elvia Allman. 29:08. Audio condition: Excellent. Complete."

On the other hand, someone could have just renamed 94 as 132. Is any of the music different?

This is #133 Bing Crosby. I can't find any differences from #94 but I know this was taken from disc by a person who knew what he was doing. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

One last comment. I have a show labeled #148 which is identical to #95 and another labeled #152 which is identical to #46. Should I assume they are mislabeld and dump them?

To dump or not to dump, that is the question.

Without the labels it's really impossible to say if they are valid or not. I'm fairly certain that the program died in 1946 but I don't know the specific date. At 1 per week from July 1943, it's possible they are valid numbers. 136 is the highest I've seen but I don't know why anyone would put those numbers on them if they didn't exist. The later shows all seem to be repeats or assembled from previous shows, so it doesn't appear much new stuff, if any, there might be in the later shows.
