Information Please. October 2, 1944. Program #40. NBC net origination, AFRS rebroadcast. The first question is, "Who or what ran down?" I started to write if a group of geese is a gaggle, is a group of turkeys called a gobble? I looked it up, a group of turkeys is called a "rafter" or sometimes incorrectly called a Gobble or Flock".

Group names are always interesting, like "murder of crows." Did I see somewhere that a group of medical specialists for skin health might be called a "rash of dermatologists"? Smile

Never could figure out why it is called a murder of crows, a "prickle of porcupines" makes sense.

I called the cops about a murder in my front lawn. They told me to stop calling them, they can't do anything about a bunch of crows.

I think I'll play the old man today and go sit in a rocking chair and doze off and on lol.

Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water.

Hi Lasombra,

I did not take those pictures. A church member (a retired Kern County Fire Captain) took them. He had to evacuate. He's not back home yet.

A few years back there was a fire seven miles from us. It moved less than one mile in five days and then the wind shifted. It moved five miles in 15 minutes. It got to within less than a mile from us and yes, we did have to evacuate. Thank God, no homes were lost. You should have seen the fire department move bull dozers, hand crews, air craft and helicopters to prevent the loss of homes.
