Two homes destroyed and many more in danger. You may not know it, but in rural California, we cannot get fire insurance. The state insures us for less than half the value. So pray for those that lost everything and for the firefighters.

I asked my wife what she wanted for Christmas. She told me "Nothing would make her happier than a diamond necklace" So I bought her nothing.

Hi Lasombra,

Yep, Walker Basin is the name of the area. The fire started near Stagecoach Road, that's why they named it the Stagecoach fire. The fire is moving away from us and into a less populated area. As I said before if the wind shifts it (the fire) could come toward us. Temps have cooled down into the mid 90's but still no humidity. The winds have slowed a bit, but anything can happen. Carolyn and I are not worried, there's nothing we can do about it except leave if they give the evacuation order. It's in God's hand.

Carolyn says I was wrong about the bears, they have been on our front porch for the last three nights. I guess I'm blessed by not being able to hear, so I get to sleep through the bear noise lol.

Hopefully the bear is gone now. I've had two moose, constant deer, coyotes, foxes, weasels, and perhaps a cougar in my yard but never a bear at the door.

All we get here in the UK are foxes, and they're timid and run away when you get near them. I heard a story this week... because of the warm weather singer Paloma Faith went to sleep on her kitchen floor with the door open because it was the coolest room in the house, and woke up with a fox about an inch from her face!
