Re: Let George Do It
There is some question as to the date of this program -- I am following up on it
The OTRR log has
* 48/06/28 94 Mr. Korawski - American [aka-The Racket]

Re: Let George Do It
OTRR log is correct.
The other date might be the date that this copy of the original broadcast transcription was created.

Re: Let George Do It
Just catching up to this one, Greybelt.
Mr. Korawski - American was performed twice. The original 1948 version (studio orchestra for music) was done on 6/28/48
It was redone with a new cast (and the 1949 organ and piano music) on 7/4/49.

Re: Let George Do It
Geez -- do you have any idea why there was a second performance? Does the orchestra version exist?

Re: Let George Do It
Music-wise it looks to me like the last "orchestra show was December 1948. January 3, 1949 they started to go with organ music and never looked back.
No hard evidence as to why the repeat. I guess the easy answer is that they wanted a strong patriotic theme for their 4th of July show and they found that they already had one.

I wish strong patriotic themes were as popular today...
