Re: Old Time Radio Show Requests
Hi, Cobaltians,
I need some help. I'm writing about a particular March of Time episode but my source doesn't say when it was broadcast or if it is available as a recording. There should be an episode about the Great Flood of 1936 aka Saint Patrick's Day Flood. I am waiting for a scan of the full section of a book that might have the date, but I'm wondering if anyone has a recording. I have the NBC Special Program from 1937 and the WWVA Souvenir booklet so I can get by but would like to hear the show.
Thanks, as always! You've helped make it possible for me to make it this far in what I laughingly refer to as my academic career.

I don't see a copy floating around anywhere but the March of Time broadcast on December 31, 1936 mentions that flood: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: Old Time Radio Show Requests
Thanks, g87! To my historian's shame, I got the 1936 flood mixed up with the Ohio River Flood of 1937. By the date, I assumed it was a year-end wrap-up and, sure enough, Goldin says it exists.
The March Of Time. December 31, 1936. CBS net. "1936 In Review". Time and Life Magazines. The top stories of the year are dramatized. Westbrook Van Voorhis (narrator). 28:22. Audio Condition: Very good. Complete.
Thanks again for the lead!

I seem to have lost my "Main Street Sketches," from May 15, 1928. Does anyone out there have it?

Does anyone have Rogue's Galley from October 4, 1945, "Blondes Prefer Gentlemen," with this storyline: A grandmother hires Richard Rogue to protect her grand-daughter, but Rogue finds a corpse in her apartment! "Murder in Drawing Room A" is announced as the next program.
Every one I've found is either a mislabeled 45-12-13 Blood on the Sand, or 46-06-23 The Star of Savoy.

I have that show but with a date of 10-18-45.
The OTRR library has it with a date of 10-4-45.

Re: Old Time Radio Show Requests
Speaking of "Rogue's Gallery," the shows "Murder in Drawing Room A," from October 11, 1945, and "Latin Type," from May 23, 1946, are the same show. Does anyone know which one is correct?

They're the right dates for the titles but those two shows in the OTRR library are both the same. I was just wondering which one is correctly dated. Nightkey, are you there?

Re: Old Time Radio Show Requests
Well this is interesting. To begin with I had 3 mislabeled shows in my set. In reading newspaper listings, for May 23, 1946, the plot is supposed to be about Rogue accepts $500 to fine a Senor Jose Lopez. Someone labeled this recording as Latin Type because the script mentions Latin Type around 3:32.
The newspaper listings for October 11, 1945, discuss a missing girl who sets out for a singing career and turns out to be a missing granddaughter. The recording mentions drawing rooms multiple times and Drawing Room A is mentioned at 11:25.
I feel like May 23 1946 is wrong and October 11, 1945 is either right or there is a third date that has not surfaced yet.

Green Valley Line
If anyone is interested in getting The Green Valley Line episodes (as far as I know, there were 26, and I have all of them) please contact me. I'm told they're not terribly common and I'd hate for them to disappear.

Peter Quill
Does anyone have audio of Peter Quill (a.k.a. The Crimson Wizard)? This program was produced at WGN in Chicago and aired via the Mutual network on-and-off from 1938 - 1941? Thanks.

Re: Old Time Radio Show Requests
Years ago I heard a show about 3 rich globe hopping bon vivants who were always on the lookout for adventure & thrills. One of them was a woman....beautiful of course. I've been trying to track it down since Windows Vista crashed on my old computer 5 years ago. I KNOW it doesn't fall into the category of rare as I had copies from a couple of different sites...including a couple of Sampler CD's which I can't find. There may have been 2 episodes....I don't know how many times I've gone through the Singles & Doubles Collections. Any help or direction would be appreciated! Jim

It doesn't sound familiar, bojim. Was it a series or an isolated episode?
