Re: Miscellaneous Drawer
Just another bit of radio fluff from the Geezer files. I came across a big band version of The Whistler's theme song. I can't recall hearing any other version (sadly, that means a bit less than it might have done a few years ago )
It's at then end of the show - about 27 minutes in. Even if it's not unusual, it's still a nice listen

Here's 5 minutes of a WWII era interview with Babe Ruth.
I hope they post the whole program sometime.

Re: Miscellaneous Drawer
Thanks Nightkey. I will remove the WRVO announcements before posting in the future.
I'm starting to like Quiet Please and found a slightly better version on WRVO.
None of these are high encodes just better sound.

There are a lot of good stories on Calvalcade of America. This is a story about the invention of cracking in a listenable condition without the snaps and pops.

Re: Miscellaneous Drawer
Parts one and two of "Is Swing the Thing?"
March 29, 1936
"One hundred people are ready to give their all for Swing, right here in the NBC studios." The first tune is, "Stompin' at the Savoy." This is one of the more pleasurable hours in the history of broadcasting. Ray Noble and His Orchestra, Casper Reardon, Kay Thompson and Her Ensemble (a great arrangement of "Blue Moon"), Meredith Willson and His Orchestra (from California), Adrian Rollini and His Tap Room Gang, Frankie Froeba (piano solo to "After You're Gone"...he must have had 12 fingers!), Mildred Bailey, The Stuff Smith Trio, Dick McDonough, Carl Kress, Red Norvo (plays the tune based on the NBC chimes), Benny Goodman and His Orchestra (from the Congress Hotel, Chicago), Helen Ward (vocal).
