Question about the site
A question for our venerable admins.
Just wondering. I know on this site that the Thanks function doesn't work the same as on the old Cobalt Club. So how does it work? Or does it?
I've seen the Thanks number under the avatar change from post to post on some and not change at all on others. When replying to a post I've seen bright Thanks buttons, dull Thanks buttons and no Thanks buttons. Is there method to the madness or is it all totally random?
Thanks

Re: Question about the site
CDM, I'm gonna let Seamus answer that question when he gets time. He's the actual brains of the operation. I understand it, but I'm not sure I can explain it correctly. And I don't want to cause additional confusion.
Re: Question about the site
CDM its not a ideal way to thank people. I added it from the modules on this site. Its setup for gamers. We are kind of just using it the best we can. It shows on the first post as highlighted. When someone thanks the poster it goes dull. Its hit and miss but at least allows some thanking going on. Hope that answers your question.

Yer Welcome. But don't thank me. I just deflected and ran for the hills. But this thread makes me think that this place needs an official motto. I'd like to nominate "Confusion is always an option." But only because I'm pretty sure that "Amuck, Amuck, Amuck" is already under copyright.

Well, to show you I understood Seamus' 'splanation completely, I saw a Thanks button appear on both your posts. I clicked on yours first and both buttons went dull. To quote my friend kschriever, "&*???!@!". Ah, now I understand completely...………………….I think.

I'm pretty sure the "Thanks" button is cumulative across all posts, rather than for just the post clicked. Or all the posts by a user in a thread. Or random posts across various disjointed threads across the site.
But the ultimate answer is 38. That or chili-cheese fries, which I am about to gleefully consume.

No, I have to correct you here, Space. The Answer is 42.
Keep your towel handy.

Boss, confusion's the norm around here. Broken up occasionally by bouts of bedlam and chaos.
I call dibs on the chaos!

Yes, that is the correct answer to Life, the Universe and Most Everything. Tomorrow's lunch is on me. I'll meet Ya outside The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. Happily, this post is Mostly Harmless.
