Community Sing
April 25, 1937

Milton Berle's opening monologue is about baseball. The first tune is, "Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight." Jones and Hare are billed as, "The Gillette Gentlemen." They sing a medley from, "Rosalie" and other tunes without comedy lyrics. It's a unique chance to hear Jones and Hare really singing! Wendell Hall sings, "Bojangles of Harlem." Milton is shooting "Berle's Brevities," which turns into a series of one-liners by a parade of stooges.

Let's Go the the Opera
August 4, 1946
The Secret of Suzanne

The glamorous mezzo-soprano voice of Rise Stevens is the leading attraction when the Metropolitan opera star joins tenor Eugene Conley and the orchestra in a cavalcade of favorite opera music sung entirely in English. Miss Stevens lends her talents to the colorful Seguidilla from Bizet's "Carmen;" to the melodious lament, "Che Faro" from "Orpheus and Eurydice," and to a duet with Conley, "Je Suis Heureuse" from "Mignon." For his solo, Conley sings "Recondita Harmonia" from "La Tosca."

Hearing Highlights. May 4, 1954. NBC net. Sustaining. A summary of the ninth day of the Army-McCarthy hearings. Should the hearings continue in public or even continue at all? Even though they may be disheartening or disgusting to the public, the hearings must continue to the bitter end. Senator McCarthy says, "There are Communists working in defense plants, with a razor blade held to the throat of the nation." Documents were removed by the employee file of a worker under investigation. The existence of a top secret letter J. Edgar Hoover is revealed. Richard Harkness (narrator, from Washington, D.C.), Ray Jenkins, Everett Dirksen, Joseph Welch, Joseph McCarthy, Karl Mundt, Stuart Symington, Roy Cohn, Robert Stevens, John McClellan. 44:44.
