Re: Suspense Upgrades
Nobody adds suspense to Suspense better than Peter Lorre. Take a listen to this, a 7th iteration (upgrade?) of Peter Lorre in The Devil's Saint.
The 1st 10 or 20 secs are still noisy but the rest is pretty good listening.
Removed noise from a previous version without adding the echo after effects. Removed some clicks and pops and brightened (just a little) Peter Lorre's voice in the 2nd half.

Re: Suspense Upgrades
*August Heat* ("brought to you my Roma Wine--R-O-M-A, Roma, yes right now a glassful would be very pleasant. . .") was the first radio show I bought in 1968, after a year of holding a tiny microphone up to the radio recording *The Shadow* every Sunday at 5:00 replayed by WQDC in Midland, thirty miles away. The *Suspense* show was insanely expensive--$30.00 for one hour--from Radio Yesteryear. I remember it came on cheap Emerald tape, brittle as a pawnbroker's promise, but I was in heaven.
Then a short time later I found Rex Bills' Golden Age Radio, and that fine man sold four six-hour reels for $30.00! He became my new go-to vendor, and later friend as on occasion I found something he didn't have (like the 1936 season of *Lux Radio Theater*).
That was well over 120,000 shows ago, though I still have a basement full of reels I've never converted to mp3s. And it's August. The heat is hovering around 94 degrees today in Midland where I now live, my wife and I are celebrating our 38th anniversary, with our younger son getting married in our home today as our elder son held his wedding on this same day in honor of my wife's lapse of judgment 38 years ago. (So now all the men in our family have no reason to forget our anniversaries.)
And I've been through so many permutations of Cobaltia I can't remember them all. But life is good. Hallelujah, amen. This celebration has been brought to you by Roma Wines--that's R-O-M-A, Roma, made in California for enjoyment throughout the world.
Jeff

Re: Suspense Upgrades
Hi Greybelt
I was going to download the past Suspense upgrades provided for the Cobalt Club from your .info web site but just realized you have deleted all of them.
Is there any possibility of you making the past upgrades available in one collection in the future?
Thanks,
Craig

Re: Suspense Upgrades
The collection usually ends up as the OTRR release of the series. But they need volunteers to spruce up the documentation and file names, etc., and do the uploading to archive.org. That is the only way that the set can be reliably available for Cobaltia since I have to manage server space allocation where it is now. The set has changed a lot since the last OTRR upgrade so it's a good time for it to be refreshed. Any volunteers?

Re: Suspense Upgrades
Ghemrats, you're the best. At least you kept the reels! I didn't. And congrats on the marriage fever the Ghemrats men have -- hope they never recover! You're all so practical -- everyone knows their anniversaries just like we know when New Year's Day is. Moveable feasts are confusing! Us men need things compartmentalized and organized (excepting our desks and workbenches).
