The bear was here again last night. We don't have moose, but we do get elk, deer, mountain lions, bob cats, badgers (the meanest animal around), raccoons, coyotes, skunks, and foxes. That's one of the reasons we love it up here so much. When I had a garden up here (before the cost of water went up), we came home one evening and actually counted 19 deer feeding on our roses, dahlias and gladiolus.

I was sitting behind an enthusiastic mom at my son’s Little League game. Her boy was pitching for the opposing team and she cheered as he threw wild pitch after wild pitch.
The poor kid walked every batter. It was only the first inning and the score was 12–0. Then one batter finally hit the ball.
"Oh no," the mom wailed. "There goes his no-hitter."

I turned 81 last Saturday. We normally don't do much, just a late lunch or early dinner and then a movie (after all I'm 81 and Carolyn will soon be 76), but we couldn't do either this year, bummer.

I hope you had a good birthday anyway Tom. At least you are both still together and relatively healthy. I often think that waking up every morning is a win for us compared to all those that don't.
After all, how many other 81-year-olds get to tell stories about wrasslin bears every few days. I don't thing even Davey Crocket managed it at that age.

I hate to ruin the birthday present Lasombra but I was informed early on that Fu Manchu is one of the shows that is not permitted to be shared here. Copyright reasons or something like that.

The fire closest to us is out, but there are over 100 wild fires burning through California. Pray for the firefighters and the people in harm's way. We are beginning to get smoke in our valley and the closest fire to us is now about 150 miles away.
