Thanks for posting. I believe that the title should read "Pierre L'Enfant." He was the military engineer that laid out the original plan for Washington, DC. The crazy road layout may have been good for horses and carriages but today it's confusing and almost difficult for automobiles and navigation.

This site has some nice transcription recordings, an eclectic bunch, that spans decades.

1947-05-12 The Lux Radio Theatre -Johnny O'Clock
This is a different network recording -- there is a complete one in circulation. This is from disc but the commercials were edited out in the copying of the disc, likely for an agent or for one of the performers. There is some scratchiness on the disc. This is more of a completist recording.

If anyone can figure out how or who takes the time to let them play through their sound card and recording as it happens, please let the group know.

Thanks for sharing these transcription discs Joe. Â I listened to an episode posted on MixCloud of The Haunting Hour called "Breakdown" which seems to be a shorter/different version than the one I am used to hearing. Â It also has no narrator. Â I thought maybe it was a cut rehearsal? Â Interesting nonetheless....

In the case of the discs on this site, it looks like he only has part 2 discs and is missing the part 1 discs. So you're starting in mid-show.
This brings up something about syndicated programs...
Many syndicated programs had only music as an opening and the local announcer would read whatever opening the station wanted, usually mentioning a local sponsor.
Programs like Haunting Hour were syndicated features and had multiple releases over the years. In some cases the recordings would be re-edited to fit a target time slot or to adapt to audience expectations. Some of the 1940s shows were still playing in the 1960s,carefully edited hacked with a dull axe by the 1960s syndicators to allow for increased commercial and news time for those stations. I remember hearing HH in the 1970s and they had clearly been re-cut and "standardized."
This brings up something about syndicated programs...

Nope, it's not that one. In that one Sapphire's uncle Wilbur has invited them for two weeks in Florida. In the one I posted Sapphire and Momma want to attend Sapphire's sister Rhododendron's wedding.

There are quite a few A&A shows with similar plot lines. Perhaps it's 1-4-53 but that show seems to be lost. Jerry and Goldin don't have it. Haven't found it in any other collection either to compare the story to my copy. My copy came from a commercial cassette so I know it has to be available somewhere. I'll just leave it undated.
