Re: Onesies and Twosies
In this case, I'd like to ask Wildcat if it would be possible to share the Our Stake in the War programs I don't have. I got the ones posted here and also have:
42-03-26 WNYC Our Stake in The War - Freedom of Religion
42-05-14 WNYC Our Stake in The War – The War and The American Standard of Living
I'd appreciate it if I could get any other programs in the series.
Thanks, Clubbers! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Or as Jan Masaryk and my Grandpa August would say:
Veselé Vánoce a šťastný nový rok!

The Shorty Thompson Show. Radiozark syndication. Ford Tractor, Dearborn Equipment. An audition program. The first tune is, "The Timber Trail." The program sounds as if it was from the early 1950's. Penny Nichols sings (and yodels), "Out On The Montana Plains" (which is the same tune as, "Out On The Texas Plains"). The Matthews Quartet is an excellent gospel group. Penny Nichols (yodeler); Shorty Thompson (host); The Matthews Quartet;.

THE THOMPSONS
Olie Head
Odie Head – “Shorty Thompson”
This married country duo came out of Nebraska into the Denver area sometime in the early 1940’s. Their son was born in Denver in 1943 and obituaries for Wayne says he spent his “boyhood” in Denver. Odie and Olivia performed as a country duo around the Denver area as “Shorty and Sue Thompson” and hosted radio programs in Nebraska and later after departing Colorado in Springfield, Missouri.
Shorty Thompson recorded a few singles on Denver’s Ace Record label . Earlier, Shorty had performed as a member of the “Tall Timber Boys”. While in Denver he recorded solo on the Ace record label. Some have attributed this release as being from the mid 1950’s but this is quite unlikely. Ace Records was listed as an entity in Billboard magazine in a June, 1948 edition. Since Shorty’s release is Ace catalog number “001” it is highly likely that this record was indeed released in 1948 or 1949. It would be quite unusual for 78 RPM’s to be stamped as late as the mid 1960’s although not impossible.

"On the Road" and "Room at the Top" should be dated October 31, 1957.
"America As a Civilization" should be dated January 2, 1958.

This program was a showcase for European Jewish refugee performers who survived 'the Hitler terror' a.k.a, the Holocaust. It was broadcast by WNYC under the auspices of the United Service For New Americans, a social welfare organization founded in 1946 to aid concentration camp survivors who often had no other family members.
