Re: Onesies and Twosies
Carson Robison from the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame
Next, Robison reinvented himself as a cowboy singer. He traveled with his group to Great Britain and Ireland in 1932, 1936 and 1939, becoming the first act to take country music overseas. Stateside, he starred in a string of national radio series for CBS and NBC throughout the 1930s. During this phase of his career Robison wrote such cowboy classics as "Carry Me Back to the Lone Prairie."

This could be Cartune-o. Sounds like a regional or local show out of Chicago. Hosted by Bill Anson and Sponsered by National Food stores

Cavalcade of Hits
it sounds like it was a summer replacement for Your Hit Parade.
This is the last show for the summer of 1947.

Re: Onesies and Twosies
I don't have any of those other ten but I've discovered I do have the last half of this other show that Goldin describes like this.
9824. Cavalcade Of Music. September 24, 1940. Sustaining. A program by ASCAP at the Golden Gate International Exposition, San Francisco. Possibly not a broadcast, the program featured ASCAP composers playing their very famous songs. ASCAP, at this time, was in a dispute with radio broadcasters about royalty payments, leading eventually to the formation of BMI (also in 1940). Dr. Howard Hanson conducts his own Third Symphony. Richard Hageman conducts the introduction and "Carnival" music to his opera, "Caponsacchi." Charles Wakefield Cadman performs his composition, "Dark Dancers Of The Mardi Gras." William Grant Still conducts, "Entree des Portiers" from his ballet, "La Quiablesse" and the 2nd and 3rd movements of his "Symphony In G Minor." Deems Taylor tells the story of and introduces his composition, "Circus Day." The program was apparently presented in two parts, as the recording after "Circus Day" is described as, "The Evening Show." Carrie Jacobs Bond sings her famous, "At The End Of A Perfect Day." Marhsall Dill, Albert Von Tilzer, Deems Taylor, Gene Buck, George M. Cohan, Hoagy Carmichael, Howard Hanson, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Jimmy McHugh, John Charles Thomas, Johnny Mercer, Judy Garland, L. Wolfe Gilbert, Leo Robin, Peter de Rose, May Singhi Breen, Ralph Rainger, Tony Martin, W. C. Handy, Richard Hageman, Charles Wakefield Cadman, Edwin McArthur, William Grant Still, Lee Roberts, Billy Hill, Shelton Brooks, Ernie Burnett, Burt Kalmar, Harry Ruby, Walter Donaldson, Carrie Jacobs Bond, Ann Ronell, Ralph Freed, James V. Monaco, Joseph Howard, Oscar Hammerstein II, Harry Armstrong, Sigmund Romberg, Harry Warren, Mack Gordon, Jean Schwartz, David Stamper, Albert Hay Malotte. 5:28:32. Audio condition: Excellent. Complete.
I'd love to have the entire show if anyone has it, or at least this half in better sound.

Re: Onesies and Twosies
"CBS Open House. June 19, 1949." This date is not correct. I was surprised when Howard Culver was introduced as part of the cast of Lady of the Press with NO mention of his starring role as Straight Arrow. Then it's announced that Edward R. Murrow has just won the 1944 award of the National Headliners Club.
See below. The correct year is 1944.

Re: Onesies and Twosies
Great catch. lasombra
Lady of the Press was on for about a year starting on May 1 1944 with over 200 episodes. It was a west coast only series.
It starred Janet Waldo and Howard Culver. Only one recording survived.
Info from Larry Groebe's
"Lady of the Press: Radio's Lost 1944 Romantic-Mystery Serial"
So 1944 is a better year for sure.
Corrected date in previous post.

Re: Onesies and Twosies
Oops! The 1944 award was the year it was awarded, not earned. Murrow won for his coverage of the December 1943 bombing raid in Berlin. Plus, from Groebe's book you cite, Lady of the Press premiered on May 1, 1944 and Howard Culver appeared on CBS Open House six weeks later!

Thank you nightkey.
I guess I did have them all. The Dupont sponser should have been a big hint.
Did they just change the opening as a summer replacement series?
Goldindex has it in a seperate listing.
